Swim Parents, I See You.
SWIM SUIT COVERAGE IS THE LEAST OF OUR PROBLEMS!
Breckynn Willis is a hero for her generation.
There is not a swim parent anywhere in these 50 United States who spends one single second getting upset about the sight of a teen girls body partly hanging out of a suit. We signed them up for this shit at age 5 the minute we put them in their first Speedos and then killed their souls when we showed them the line at the bottom of the pool. You want to get all hot and bothered about a girl’s wedgie during a race when she clearly had better things to worry about than her ass crack offending you? Ha. This girl went through puberty in front of her peers wearing pretty much nothing. You can’t scare her.
We swim parents gave up on this issue years ago. We saw what was coming as our kids aged up and watched how to older girls confidently and casually strolled around the pool, immune to scrutiny. They don’t feel shame and we learned to suppress the impulse to pick those wedgies out for them with that first big girl warm-up suit. Most practices are co-ed and the boys and girls hardly seem to notice the differences between them. There is collaboration and cooperation among the genders, same as if they were all dressed in suits in a boardroom. (No. Not the same. Better.) Wake up, America- these kids are the ones modeling the way things should be.
